New Beginnings (Part 2)
After sitting for ten minutes with my finger hovering over the send button, I found enough courage to send a draft of the new website to the Trustees, and much to my relief, Noel Raine’s first comment was ‘Well, good news - the Trustees like your website!’
I was now breathing.
I was so happy that the imagery presented in the designs brought to mind Hamblin’s teachings: the gold colour representing the sun, the source of light. Hamblin himself refers to ‘the Sun behind the sun’ in one of his books.
It was just a matter of getting the banner and logo imagery right, and the ‘golden squares’ wasn’t cutting it. Noel’s preference was to have something round, or a pointed star, or possibly a combination of the two.
Previously, as I was going through different design ideas, I came up with one that included the Flower of Life. The first design was a bit busy, so we opted to stick with the golden squares. But after Noel’s comments, I went back to the Flower of Life idea and found one that was refined and had a six-pointed star at its centre.
When I added the Flower of Life into the design, it really resonated with me and I was hopeful that Noel and the Trustees would like it too.
I nervously sent the new logo design to the Trustees and was really blown away by the response that came back:
‘It’s not quite what I was expecting but I like it. The Flower of Life is a very ancient symbol and I have personally seen it inscribed on the stones of the Temple of Abydos when I was in Egypt.’
— Noel Raine
Well, that was more than I could have hoped for. Noel went on to say …
‘It tends to suggest an esoteric knowledge from antiquity but has the benefit of also incorporating a variety of symbolism relevant to the Trust in the present day:
1. The circle, symbolising the sun and the source of life, both frequent references in Hamblin's books.
2. The reference to the 'flower' also close to HTH's heart and one of his more popular books.
3. A subtle inclusion of the six pointed star, associated not only with esoteric lore but also consistent with its use on the cover of 'The Way of the Practical Mystic'
4. The intersecting circles indicating the inter-relationship of all life.
One could also argue that the ancient esoteric lore it represents is a link with the energies allegedly unlocked through the Bosham Stone.... Hamblin's simplicity embedded in esoteric complexity! What more could one ask for? Well done, I think it works well and I am happy to go with it.’
I do believe my heart was singing after reading those incredible words from Noel. Going from a blank canvass to the place where you’re a part of something special being created, and that represents the new iteration of The Hamblin Trust is all Caroline and I could have hoped for when taking on this epic project.
It is the Trust’s hope that The Hamblin Vision Online will be a regular source of inspiration on your spiritual journey.
