Philip knew Clare very well for many years. He first corresponded with her from far, far away in the library at Ramana Maharshi’s asham in Tiruvannamalai, India. Philip had travelled there in his spiritual quest and was astonished to find some illuminating writings in a Science of Thought Review journal that was published in Bosham, West Sussex, very near to where he grew up. The irony of having discovered such wisdom from his own home county while on the other side of the world seemed so miraculous that, upon his return to England, Philip set off on foot across the South Downs to find Bosham House and to meet Clare Cameron for the first time.
Their friendship lasted many years, until Clare’s death in 1983. In 2010, Philip began to write Hidden Beauty of the Commonplace, a book that reflects upon Clare’s life and work, and shares with us the wisdom she embodied.
